Just one correction: The movie takes place in Shanghai, which the Japanese occupied during their invasion of China. The family lived in the International District, where foreigners thought they'd be safe during the war (not!). Great website, BTW. I hadn't seen it before, and I've added it to my blogroll. Keep up the good work!
